Each school that receives Title I, Part A funding must work together with parents to create a School-Parent Compact, which is a written agreement explaining how the school, parents, and students will share the responsibility for supporting student learning and helping every child succeed. As part of the school’s Parent and Family Engagement Plan, the compact outlines what the school will do to support learning, what parents can do at home, how students will take responsibility for their own learning, and how families and the school will partner to help children meet the state’s academic standards. The goal of the compact is to ensure that everyone understands their role in helping students achieve their best.

Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s challenging State academic standards.

Florence Elementary School is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers who are dedicated to providing high-quality instruction. Staff members participate in ongoing, data-driven professional development to strengthen instructional practices, analyze student data, and improve student outcomes. Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and materials to address the diverse learning styles and individual needs of all students, ensuring that every child has access to engaging and meaningful learning opportunities.

Hold parent-teacher conferences (at least annually in elementary schools) during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.

Florence Elementary School teachers will hold parent-teacher conferences during the first quarter and as needed throughout the school year. During student-led conferences, students will share their goals and lead measures with their families. Parents and families will receive weekly Connect Ed messages from the principal, as well as regular school and classroom updates through ClassDojo. The Parent and Family Compact will be shared during the Annual Title I Night and reviewed again during conferences to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.

Parents will receive quarterly progress reports, report cards, and student testing data to keep them informed of their child’s academic performance and growth. Parent conferences will be held to discuss student academic progress. Teachers will provide weekly newsletters with information about curriculum, classroom activities, and upcoming events to maintain ongoing communication with families. The school will also host curriculum nights to help parents better understand grade-level expectations, instructional practices, and ways to support learning at home.

Provide parents with reasonable access to staff.

Parents will be provided with reasonable access to school staff throughout the school year to support open communication and strong home-school partnerships. Staff members will be available to meet with parents during scheduled parent-teacher conferences, before or after school by appointment, and during school-wide events throughout the year. Teachers and staff will communicate their availability through ClassDojo, email, phone calls, and newsletters. Parents may request meetings by contacting the teacher directly, calling the front office, or sending a message through ClassDojo.

Provide parents with opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities.

Parents will be provided with opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s classroom through activities such as as helping with field trips, reading with students, classroom projects, making copies, and participating in family engagement activities. Teachers and staff will communicate volunteer opportunities through newsletters, ClassDojo, email, and school-wide announcements. Parents who wish to observe classroom activities may schedule visits with the teacher and school administration to ensure that observations occur at appropriate times that support instruction and minimize disruptions to the learning environment.

Ensure regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff that is, to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand.

Florence Elementary will ensure regular, two-way communication between families and school staff in a language that family members can understand, when possible. Communication will be provided through translated emails, ClassDojo messages, newsletters, phone calls, and other school communications to help families stay informed and engaged in their child’s education. Interpreters and translators will be provided as needed during parent-teacher conferences, meetings, and school events to support clear communication with families whose primary language is not English.

We will encourage strong study habits by creating a quiet, well-lit space for learning, setting aside time each day for reading and vocabulary practice, and monitoring our child's academic progress regularly. We will provide assistance when needed, help our children set realistic academic goals, and reinforce the importance of education in everyday life.
